From the Desk of Brent Greer, County Mayor
January
2010
Site work has
begun on the Emergency Services Complex at
Paris Landing State Park. Norwood
Construction was the successful bidder on
the project. Final building plans have been
completed and bids should be let in January.
Estimated start date on the project is late
first quarter of 2010.
Our community
is extremely excited about the expansion
plans of Allegro Fine Foods of Paris. Their
job expansion, as well as building
expansion, is certainly good news. The
company plans to start the expansion in
early 2010.
The Grove
School building program is almost underway.
School construction bonds will be sold in
early January 2010. The $3,700,000 project
will require a loan in the amount of $2.5
million. It is hopeful that the project can
be completed by the beginning of school in
the fall of 2010.
Henry County
will begin its energy efficiency building
project in April of 2010. The $750,000
project will increase energy efficiency for
seven county buildings with an estimated
guaranteed cost savings of $64,024 in year
one of the project. Ameresco is the company
in charge of the project as well as the
guarantor of the savings. Henry County has
applied for a $100,000 state grant to assist
this project.
Two long time
Henry County public servants, County Clerk
Jerry Bomar and Circuit Court Clerk Ron
Myers, have decided to retire at the end of
their current term in August 2010. Our
government will certainly miss both
gentlemen who have dedicated many successful
years of public service to the citizens of
Henry County. Best wishes to both great
friends.
