Henry County Commissioner

Vice Chairman, County Commission

Mary Warren

3rd District

I am a second term commissioner from the third district. My husband Joe and I have been married for forty-five years and have two children and three grandchildren. I was educated in the Bradford School System and have some credits toward a degree in Computer Science from Dyersburg State. My work experience is in accounting, insurance, and as a school secretary. Joe and I are active members of Point Pleasant Baptist Church, where I have been a children’s Sunday school class teacher, sang in the choir, and served on various committees.

As a commissioner I presently serve on eight committees where I am chairman of two and secretary of four. They are: Adult Oriented Establishment Board, Central Community Service Center Building Committee, County Health Insurance Committee, Legislative Committee, Nominating Committee, Non-Profit Study Committee, Office on Aging Committee, and Work Release Committee.

My desire is to work with the other commissioners in an effort to make Henry County a safer, healthier, more moral place for our citizens to live, a place that offers a safe environment for the children of Henry County. It is my hope that working together we can make Henry County a place where people will want to come to vacation and when they get here they will not want to leave. Henry County is a beautiful place with many things to offer those living here as well as the visitor. I think we have only just begun to tap into our nature resource. In reading and listening you will learn that Henry County has a long history of inventors and advanced thinkers. I believe we should make every effort to make it an even better place.

I believe the Lake Area has the most potential for growth at this time and I think one of the most important things we can do for the future of Henry County is to get 79 Highway four-laned all the way to Milan, TN. I hope we will all work together in an effort to accomplish this so we can make it easier for industries and businesses to get products in and out of our county.

I am presently working with the county mayor and the Springville Utility District, in the Old Springville Area, in an effort to get quality water, in quantity to that area. I believe in bringing quality water into that area will not only be of great value to the citizens that live there but will also help that area with farther development. I believe this is an area that has been somewhat overlooked and we should make every effort to make quality water available to those taxpayers.

I think we can all agree that every tax dollar should be used wisely in an effort to bring the most benefits to our citizens. I encourage all citizens to get involved in your community and take an active role in working to make Henry County the best and most desirable place it can be. I also encourage all citizens to come to the commission meetings in an effort to become informed as to how your commissioners are representing your thoughts and values. Many times in the commission meetings we are just taking care of house hold chores, such as making budget transfers, etc. However there are times when very important matters are being voted on, matters that will affect all citizens and I think it would be beneficial that “YOU” be present for all meetings so you won’t miss something important.
